The Premise: The Scope and aim – the case for Reinvent Yourself For Good, For Good
Prologue: The Bruising of Our Souls in Today’s Modern Society
(Or how we are recognizing that there is more to life than Capitalism and consumption,
no truer today as the Pandemic & The Great Resignation have shown us!)
If you layoff (i.e. “separate” as we used to say in corporate America) 1,000 employees from
their paycheck in an eight hour span, your soul gets bruised. I took me a good number of showers
and adult beverages, to get the disgust, the feeling of shame, out of my head and heart, of separating
so many people through the business of what is called “outsourcing” (moving jobs from high wage
country i.e. the United States to a low wage country, i.e. India) their jobs to a lower wage country.
And my story is not unique.
After approximately 35 years of being the proverbial road warrior and atypical hi-tech
consultant, I was pretty worn out. The emotional hit I took when I was “separated” from the last
corporate role (Global VP of a managed Tech service practice) was surprising and I was not
prepared for. Recognizing emotional and psychological impact of loosing your job, ending a
career or not even being able to start a career, is critical part of this book. In Part II section of this
book - How to re-value yourself for good –emotional, physical, psychological repair – how to love
and like yourself – we provide steps and a pathway to recover mentally, emotionally and many
other ways after loosing your job (or if you are beating your head against the wall trying to land
good first job). Section III we map a personal strategic plan for you to find your “good work”.
More about these sections later.
In Reinventing Yourself for Good, For Good, I not only share my story, but we share the
stories of many people who have abandoned the empty, stressful, the often heartless world of
capitalism and have reinvented themselves to do good, for good. We hope these stories resonate
with you, provide not only solace but provide you the motivation to make your leap. We identify
the key attributes and steps these social entrepreneurs took to reinvent themselves for good, for
good, permanently.
